This exquisite chest features locally harvested hardwoods: Cherry, Walnut, and Ebony on the exterior, and Cherry, Walnut, and Ash on the interior. The 6” x 9” beveled glass design in the lid has been sandblasted utilizing Light Carving and Solid and Light Frosting techniques. An attractive interior Mirror, African Ebony Trim, Solid Polished Brass Hardware, and a Hand Rubbed Shellac and Wax Finish, complete this Heirloom Keepsake Chest. A truly amazing marriage of wood and glass.
Wooden Chest: measures approx. 7 1/2” High x 12 1/2” Wide x 9 1/2” Deep, 3 brass hinges, removable brocade panel
An Original Collaboration by Glass Artist Mike Smarr and Wood Artist Robert Gaunt.
This is our first collaboration together and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. Robert (Click Here) is truly an outstanding wood artist and I hope that we will find the time to do more pieces together in the near future. I wanted to do a post on this Keepsake Chest to see what others think about the woods that we used, as well as the glass design that we chose. Please click on the Comment link below and tell us what you think. Thank you for your time. See ya!
